Explore this 19th century private cemetery - the resting place for many of Newcastle's eminent citizens, including the architect John Dobson and shopkeepers, Fenwick, Bainbridge and Parrish. Please wear suitable footwear as some areas of the cemetery are overgrown and can be slippery, expecially in wet weather.

To celebrate the eagerly anticipated cinema release of Rio 2, our feathered friends Nico and Pedro are landing in Newcastle to host their very own Rio 2 Karaoke Party.

One of only six stops on their national UK Karaoke Tour Nico and Pedro will be live on stage at the Intu Metrocentre on Saturday 29th March, performing their favourite chart hits with the young Rio fans of Newcastle.

It’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids in RIO 2, after they venture from that magical city into the wilds of the Amazon for a family reunion. Out of his element in a land he doesn't know, Blu must face his most fearsome adversary - his father in law - while evading Nigel's fiendish plans for revenge. 243 affordable original prints each measuring 20cm x 20cm by artists from throughout the UK. All prints are available to purchase for £20 each and take home the same day.

Northern Print, the regional centre for printmaking in Newcastle, presents over 200 prints from the 20:20 print exchange project which was initiated by Hot Bed Press in Salford and Red Hot Press in Southampton in 2009. This year 40 print workshops from all over the UK participated resulting in 585 artists producing a huge grand total of 14,625 prints!

The exhibition presents a glimpse of what’s going on in the print world today and includes a wide range of print techniques including screenprint, woodblock & digital prints. Works are from print studios across the UK, including Northern Print, are all on paper measuring 20 x 20cm and each cost £20 to purchase.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their friends from Disney’s Mulan, The Lion King and Pinocchio, and Disney/Pixar’s Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Toy Story, take to the ice for a grand celebration in Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic. Produced by Feld Entertainment, this fanfare production features more than 60 unforgettable Disney stars that span the decades, a sing-along score of award-winning Disney music, stunning choreography, elaborate sets and beautiful costumes.
With Mickey and Minnie leading the fun, audiences enjoy breathtaking production numbers choreographed by Emmy Award®-winner Sarah Kawahara. Kawahara previously worked with Michelle Kwan and choreographed the skating segment for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Complementing Kawahara’s fabulous skate sequences are the memorable tunes compiled by music directors Art Kempel and Stan Beard that bring the wonderful memories of Disney to life on ice. Scenic Designer David Potts and Lighting Designer LeRoy Bennett create the mood and settings that showcase extraordinary Disney moments.
Outfitting this cast of more than 60 characters was the challenge facing Costume Designer Scott Lane. His dazzling designs range from Mickey’s Marching Band, to the “It’s a Small World” dolls, to the stars of Mulan and Finding Nemo. The bright colors and minimal structure in the Nemo costumes allow the characters to move freely in order to mimic the natural movement in water. Renowned designer Bob Mackie also lends his talents to a red sequined evening gown worn by Minnie.
Scenic Designer David Potts, who has worked on numerous Broadway productions, creates a theatrical atmosphere on ice. Skaters weave around and enliven the “It's a Small World” sequence amidst sparkling floats that turn into a radiant light parade; a blanket of snow and an avalanche fall as Mulan battles the Huns; and a giant present is opened to reveal Buzz Lightyear as he’s first introduced to that favorite toy cowboy, Woody and his pal Jessie.

Chris Barber OBE is an icon of traditional jazz in the UK and was this week awarded a Lifetime Award - the prestigious German Jazz Trophy 2014! Former award winners include Lee Konitz, Monty Alexander, Dick Hayman and Jacques Loussier, demonstrating the significance of this award which comes whilst Chris celebrates his Diamond Jubilee as leader of his band on a full-time professional basis.

Chris, his band, and his music (not to mention his devotion to jazz and the blues and his pioneering efforts to bring jazz and blues stars to Britain for the first time in the 1950s and 1960s ) have influenced, both directly and indirectly, almost everything that has happened on the music scene in the last half-century, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and The Sex Pistols to name but a few!

Even one of Britain’s best loved actors and musicians, Hugh Laurie, hails Chris Barber as his biggest inspiration and the two performed together last May in London’s famous Abbey Road Studios!

The Big Chris Barber Band features everything from New Orleans to Blues to late 20's Ellington, played with extraordinary panache and skill.

Hits include ‘Bourbon Street Parade’, ‘Jubilee Stomp’, ‘Ice Cream’ and ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’.
