C-Card Induction Training

This one day course will give participants the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to operate within Newcastle’s very successful C-Card Scheme. It will give participants the opportunity to explore their own attitudes and values about sex and relationships. By the end of the course participants will have had the opportunity to:

  • Increase their understanding of the aims of the Newcastle C-Card Scheme and how outlets operate within it
  • Increase their knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of workers working with sexually active young people
  • Understand the rights of young people to access confidential and impartial advice and support on contraception and sexual health
  • Explore situations when confidentiality may need to be breached and a safeguarding referral may be necessary
  • Explore our own values, attitudes and beliefs and how these may impact upon the work we do with young people
  • Explore some of the pressures that are around for young people when they consider becoming sexually active
  • Have an opportunity to practise how to answer difficult questions
  • Increase their awareness of the types and variety of condoms, dams, femidoms, lube and other resources available through the scheme
  • Practise carrying out a C-Card induction in a safe, informal environment with other workers
  • Have any questions answered relating to Newcastle’s C-Card Scheme
