A Letter from Kitchener
Tuesday 10 November. 7pm – 9pm
Fiercely patriotic, Jean and Margaret stand proudly singing ‘God Save the King.’ Behind their pride they fear for their sons, both of whom have been re-enlisted as reservists to fight in the Great War. ‘A Letter from Kitchener’ follows a short period in the two women’s lives, as they look forward to the early return of the soldiers. They hope the war will be over by Christmas, but who is coming home? This short play is produced by Little Cat Theatre and performed by four actors, with original music. The lyrics to the songs are written by members of Gateshead’s own ‘Scribblers’ writing group.
