Description:

America’s legendary singer-songwriter Don McLean, most famous for his hits ‘American Pie’, ‘Vincent (Starry Starry Night)’, ‘Crying’ and ‘Castles In The Air’, returns to Sage Gateshead in 2015.

Over the course of his extraordinary career, Don McLean has sold over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. The infamous song, ‘American Pie’, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002 and in 2004 Don himself was inducted into the Song Writers Hall of Fame. He has sold out arenas worldwide, performing 13 world tours and has performed more than 3,500 concert appearances.

In June 2014 Don performed for 30,000 at the Stagecoach Festival – one of the premier country music events in the US. According to the Daily News “the audience went wild, screaming, jumping, dancing. Even after the song was over, the audience still lingered, basking in the afterglow of the performance.”
